07 Dec There is still investment in education!
Thanks to investments of more than 18 million Euro, the students of Titu Moiorescu University benefit from modern study conditions, similar to the big universities in Europe and the world.
Bucharest, 7 December 2010 – CRESCENDO in partnership with Titu Moiorescu University (UTM) announces the completion of the project for the restoration of the entire IT & C infrastructure of the University. The investment, worth more than half a million Euros, is part of an extensive project to develop the entire study infrastructure, whereby the University provides students with the skills needed to integrate into the labor market. Thus, University students now enjoy space and facilities at the highest standards, studying after a curriculum in accordance with the principles of the Bologna process.
In the two decades of activity, UTM has undergone a complex and difficult evolution process, redefining permanently. In order to achieve one of the major objectives of the University, to pragmatize the training in the integration of graduates into the labor market, Titu Maiorescu University has made changes in the curriculum through the development of a student centered education and learning outcomes, the curricular practice and creating a Psychological and Career Orientation Center. At the same time, the University has developed an investment plan of over 18 million Euro, which provided the development of the entire university infrastructure:
“The investment plan was based on our desire to provide quality in everything we do. Our university succeeded after efforts, I would say superhuman, to finalize some projects whose realization, in these times, represents almost a miracle. We are talking here about the completion of the M-Building – a vast building that includes large educational spaces, equipped with the highest standards in the field, endowing the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry with high technology equipment and last but not least the modernization of the entire infrastructure IT & C.”, States Prof. Univ. Dr. Iosif R. Urs, Rector of Titu Maiorescu University.
IT investing, a step towards online learning
In the process of developing academic education and scientific research within the University, IT plays an important role. UTM has undertaken to restructure and modernize the IT & C system so as to ensure the widespread computerization of academic and administrative activities within the University, while also providing technical support for the implementation and exploitation of an e-learning application.
At the heart of the renewal process of the entire IT park, an investment of more than 500,000 euros, were the latest generation of Hewlett Packard, Microsoft and VMWare world leaders, implemented and integrated by the CRESCENDO team. The choice of the implementation partner took place following a selection process, during which CRESCENDO differentiated itself through specialized integrator competencies and strategic partnerships with the three world suppliers.
Following the laboratories and scientific research centers endowment with modern equipment, the university staff have access to the necessary tools for the application of computer technology in the academic education process, and the students benefit from real-time access to the information of interest.
In addition, a data infrastructure and software applications have been created that ensure a high level of protection and security. Now, the data network is centrally managed and monitored, which leads to cost savings and the protection of the internal network against external attacks.
“20 years ago, we have committed to developing private higher education, which, due to the lack of a legal framework and foreign visions of the meaning and mission of the university institution, is under the threat of anarchic development. Through the permanent innovation process of the curriculum and the investments made, I think we are on the right track. Our development projects will continue. History has shown that the future belongs to strong universities with a solid material basis, which have substantial human and material resources,” Mr. Rector Iosif R. Urs.
“Through the investments made in the direction of developing a quality-based education, Titu Maiorescu University is today a model for the university environment, but also for the whole educational, entrepreneurial and political environment. As a partner and supporter of the projects of Titu Maiorescu University, we strongly believe that the constant effort of the university to adapt and innovate the education in the direction of pragmatization and the increase of the quality of education and research adds value to the entire Romanian society”. Marius Tulea, General Manager of CRESCENDO.
