Following the implementation of Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2, Impact Developer & Contractor is able to take faster decisions and benefits from a 50% reduction in travel and communication costs, building on unified communications (Microsoft Unified Communications)

September 3, 2009 CRESCENDO the IT&C solution house announces that it has completed the implementation of Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 at Impact after the phase one of the project conducted last year: the migration to Exchange Server 2007. Through its instant messaging, audio and video messaging facilities conferences, Impact D & C SA now benefits from the optimization of communication, which leads to a significant reduction of transport and communication costs, substantial time gains on different phases of projects and the efficiency of remote collaboration.

Impact Developer & Contractor is the first representative of the real estate development and construction sector in Romania listed in the 1st category of the Romanian Stock Exchange. In 13 years of its existence it has developed 16 assemblies in 5 cities, with over 2,000 houses and apartments as well as 25,000 square meters of offices and commercial spaces. Impact D & C S.A. offers its own acquisition solutions and specialized consultancy. In the last years, Impact has expanded its activity on a national scale (Bucharest, Cluj Napoca, Constanta, Oradea, Ploiesti).

Despite the financial turbulence that has severely affected the real estate sector, Impact D & C S.A. registered in the first 6 months of 2009, an increase of the gross profit by 3% compared to the estimates made at the beginning of the year, reaching RON 3.27 million. At the same time, the company increased its market share during this period and pursued the continuation of the works at the residential assemblies in the country, as well as obtaining the necessary authorizations in the second half of the year for the developments in the Greenfield II and Lomb Hill in Cluj Napoca.

With the evolution of Impact D & C S.A. as a major developer of real estate investments, focused on large-scale projects nationwide, increased communication volume has become a reality “As shown in the 10 acquisition solutions tailored to each client type, as well as the configurable apartments according to the individual needs of the beneficiaries , we are a mobile and flexible company. Communication is vital to us wherever we are at any time. We are developing residential assemblies all over the country, our team is in a continuous movement. A project involves many aspects in all its phases, from design and construction to market positioning. And for everything to work, team members at different locations need to communicate, make decisions, and all that quicker. For example, for the new Lomb Hill project, where residents will have a unique panorama over Cluj Napoca, there will be a lot of meetings between the team in Bucharest and Cluj. Due to the considerable distance, many meetings were postponed, many hours were lost on the road, not to mention the cost of travel. We needed a solution that streamlined teamwork, a communications solution that facilitates audio and video conferencing,” says Aurelian Lungu, IT Manager Impact.

Initially, the CRESCENDO team implemented a product pilot so that IMPACT team members can test their functionality. “From our previous collaborations we have been able to understand the need for communication of Impact D & C S.A. We have designed a solution testing environment by deploying the Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 pilot with features such as Instant messaging, Presence, Audio and Video conferencing, Remote Desktop, Live Meeting. At the end of the testing period, Impact took the decision to implement the solution. The reasons are obvious “– says Marius Turlea, Advanced Software Infrastructure Solutions Manager, Crescendo.

Through Office Communication Server 2007 R2, the members of Impact D & C S.A. team now communicate at the level of text, voice, audio or video conferences with one or more people in the company wherever they are. Web conferencing can be initiated in which team members can share applications, presentations, or even desktops. Now, much of the sessions are done without all the people involved gathering at a particular hour in a particular room. In addition, by sending a simple online invitation, you can initiate audio and video conferences with clients or with various collaborators across the country.

Increasing the number of video and audio conferences has had a direct impact on cost reduction. “Following implementation, we have seen a substantial reduction in communication and travel costs. The number of journeys decreased by 40% – 50%, as well as the related costs. By integrating Office Communication Server 2007 R2 with Exchange Server 2007, the Microsoft Office Communicator client can know the presence of any colleague – whether or not in the office, in a meeting or in a telephone conversation – some of this information is obtained through the person’s Microsoft Outlook calendar. And at the same time, anyone can find out if in his absence he has been searched in one form or another.

The communication plus emphasizes and streamlines teamwork, materializing in substantial time gains. The development period of a project can now be reduced by making decisions, communicating and implementing them in a much shorter time.
