Through the project of consolidation and modernization of the entire communication infrastructure, Intesa Sanpaolo Bank benefits from the increase of the data security and the availability of the services offered, simultaneously with the reduction of the costs related to the network administration.

Bucharest, October 28, 2010 – CRESCENDO the solutions house, Cisco Silver Partner, announces the successful completion of the consolidation and modernization project of Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Romania, a subsidiary of Intesa Sanpaolo Group. The implementation, based on Cisco Systems technology, has led to increased data security and improved operational efficiency of the bank, with a beneficial impact on costs.

On the background of the sustained development of the Territorial Network and its customer portfolio (both individuals and companies), Intesa Sanpaolo Bank has seen an increase in data volume and this has become a challenge in terms of transmission speed.

“We have decided to consolidate and modernize the communications infrastructure quickly,” said Marcela Gui, IT Manager, Intesa Sanpaolo Bank. “We wanted the solution chosen to be flexible and scalable so that we can adapt to our bank’s development plans for the next 5 years”, Marcela Gui completes.

“Following the communication infrastructure audit, we proposed to Intesa Sanpaolo Bank management a Cisco-based solution that, by bringing together the main network functions: routing, switching, securing and optimizing traffic, allowing the bank to efficiently and securely manage the exchange data in LAN and WAN. With the adoption of the new solution, the management of the communications network is centralized, which has been reflected in lower operational costs,” says Costel Cristea, Communications Solutions Business Unit Manager, CRESCENDO.

Following its implementation, Intesa Sanpaolo Bank now has a communications network that ensures the confidentiality and integrity of the data exchanged between the units in the bank’s network. In addition, they benefit from better data protection against in-home attacks, with market surveys estimating that around 80% of the attacks in the world are from inside, most of the time involuntarily.

In order to ensure high performance across the communications network and its predictability in terms of its operation and maintenance, CRESCENDO consultants designed and implemented an AccessCenter architecture, compliant with Cisco best practices, while respecting the policy of security and communications of the bank.

Thus, the availability of critical business applications has increased, the system now switching in real time in the event of a failure at the level of the communications line providers or at the level of the network equipment (the “multi-site” Center and Disaster Recovery Center).

In addition, the technical staff at the company headquarters can manage the centralized network (using the Cisco Systems management software platforms – CiscoWorks and Access Control Server), which enables an optimal staffing scheme, providing secure and complex services (intranet and Internet), for employees from all locations.

“CRESCENDO provided us with the solution and services we needed. Adopting the solution has led to a decrease in the cost of managing and maintaining the data network. In addition, now everything is happening faster and in a much safer environment. And if in the future we want to expand our network of units or adopt new technologies, this will be done without substantial changes to the communications infrastructure.” Marcela Gui concluded.
