QlikView solution to Humanitas

CRESCENDO implemented QlikView Business Intelligence solution based on revolutionary technology in Humanitas Group in May 2007. From now on, group managers base their decisions on accurate, timely and quickly information, in easily understood and processed reports.

Initial situation

Humanitas Group brings together companies like Humanitas Publishing House, Humanitas Bookstores, Humanitas Multimedia. Due to its expansion in recent years, Humanitas’ business processes have become complex, the management structure come to need a powerful tool for measuring, monitoring and tracking group’s key business processes. Amid tightening competition, managers must now respond to a various challenges. They need to solve complex situations, with multiple plan implications. Their reactions to market and business requirements and must be fast and the most appropriate ones, from the first attempt, often a second chance is rare or nonexistent. They need to get short term results, but also have a long-term strategy.

QlikView solution promoted by CRESCENDO is brought out by the Swedish Company QlikTech. According to an IDC market study, this company is the provider of business intelligence software with the fastest growth in last three years; it now has over 5,000 customers in 86 countries.

Implementation of QlikView solution in the Humanitas Group revealed some application strengths. These include fast implementation – customers use QlikView in less than 30 days after the start of implementation. In this particular case, the term was reduced to only one week!

The solution also provides ease of use so that end users do not need special training. Then, the flexibility of application determines it to perform data analysis on any number of formats. And last, but not least, AQL technology enables real-time processing of a two billion records amount, with an impressive processing power.

Successful implementation by CRESCENDO of this Business Intelligence solution determined Humanitas Group to request an additional 60% of users initially established, within a month after the launch.

Humanitas management acknowledged from the outset that we are their long-term partner. Our solution perfectly fits the requirements of any company’s management structure. Implementation of QlikView is fast, as it is the return on investment. We differentiate from other market players with our complementary skills to support our customers. Our extensive experience provides our experts with skills that are transferable from one solution to another, while bringing more quality to the systems, regardless of components source: ERP applications, CRM applications, or software, communication and hardware infrastructure,” CRESCENDO Managing Director Marius Tulea says.

By implementing Business Intelligence solution, CRESCENDO has come to meet the growing requirements of Humanitas Group managers.

We wanted to implement an efficient solution, to really help daily work of our managers. The product qualities of the solution offered by CRESCENDO and also the professionalism shown by the team involved in this project makes us believe that our choice was the correct one,” Humanitas CEO Nicholas Ciurea says.

QlikView advantages over other similar solutions come from changing the organization and processing way. Thus, this solution gave up OLAP (On Line Analytical Processing) technology in favor of a new one: AQL (Associative Query Logic). AQL is a revolutionary technology that eliminates the need to build a large data base – so-called data warehouse. The system allows direct connecting to operational systems data. It is also possible to connect to any data source (ERP, CRM, Microsoft Office), thus resulting in the unification of information “islands” generated by the many independent applications used within the company.
